Palomares aims to provide an education of excellence that instills a passion for life-long learning while preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow. Palomares will enhance students' self esteem, help them discover and maximize their individual potential, and guide each to dignify, appreciate, respect, and accept human diversity.

Small School -- Great Spirit

We're Unique

Palomares School opened in 1868 as a one-room schoolhouse. The school was rebuilt in 1955. It is nestled in a quiet valley surrounded by tree-covered hills, adjoining a creek, with three habitat zones on the school grounds. The fabulous outdoors provides an excellent learning laboratory for our students. We currently have six classrooms, covering Kindergarten through Grade 5. We added a new library/multipurpose room and administrative office in 1998, as well as a new science center in 2003. In the Fall of 2005, the school got a new lunch/multi-purpose room as part of an extensive renovation funded by the 1998 Bond Measure. Palomares is a unique public school in a beautiful outdoor setting.

In the fall of 2005, Palomares was named a Blue Ribbon School, receiving National recognition in Washington DC. This is quite an honor for our little school!  Out of more than 100,000 schools in the United States, Palomares is one of only 296

to receive this prestigious award this year.

In 2004, Palomares School was recognized as a California Distinguished School and in 2006 we were named an Honor Roll School through the California Business for Education Excellence.

While we are thrilled with our success, we realize that it is essential to keep looking forward to determine innovative and exemplary ways to meet the needs of our diverse student population.  Please read our vision statement!
